MEET BURGESS
Burgess Owens is a former University of Miami and NFL star who travels the country delivering a message of optimism, hope, and unity.
The right to bear arms is fundamental to a free society. Any infringement upon that will only affect law abiding citizens.
Many argue that fetuses aren’t really human beings. But what else can they be? They won’t grow to be dogs or horses. Life begins at conception.
As you get older, Medicare should give you more choices too - at every step, you should be in the driver’s seat. It’s time we use our head and open up the industry to innovation and competition.
Utah’s attractiveness as an investment destination is clear, with international investors fueling innovation and growth across the state. The world wants our goods and services and we need the world to buy our goods and services.
I believe our economy will continue to expand if we seek out policies that encourage innovation and entrepreneurialism. I am a passionate supporter of free-market principles. Government must get out of the way.
We cannot tax and spend our way to prosperity. I am fiscally conservative and have proudly signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
The Department of Education has grown well beyond its original purpose. We need to bring education decisions back to the local level and encourage more parent involvement.
We are a country of laws and we must secure our borders. Our focus should always be to protect Americans first.
Years ago, when I first met Tim Ballard, founder of Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), my priority became making the fight the evils of human trafficking the largest platform possible. The benefit of running for Congress as a "political outsider" is having friends and mentors like Tim whose expertise means creating effectual legislation that will make an actual impact in the lives of Utahns. This has given me the ability to put together a plan over the past several months that is not superficial in nature and has an easy to read layout for my future constituents to understand. A plan that involves the community and local law enforcement, as oppose to the generic top down, "federal solutions” offered in the past by most politicians. With these criteria in mind, we have created a blueprint to make Utah a "Trafficking Free Zone" State. The 10 "Trafficking Free Zone" (TFZ) modules listed form a barrier that protect the innocent from would-be predators. Working in conjunction with the Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes’ Internet Crime Against Children Task Force (ICACTF), the TFZ modules will make Utah as a human trafficking-free zone a tangible reality.
Long-standing polices that advocated open borders and (recently) defunding the police have been a contributing factor to this evil that permeates our society. Empty bills that do not empower or educate the local community are just as harmful, since they act like a band-aid on an open wound that needs immediate medical attention.
I will continue to stand alongside patriotic citizens like Tim Ballard and enact policies and legislation that will protect the people I serve. I will also continue to speak out against ANY and ALL policies that aid in allowing trafficking to continue uninhibited. your budget by expanding the use of health saving accounts. Encouraging competitive, market based approaches to the healthcare system allows people to choose what type of coverage they need at a price and at a plan that fits their lifestyle and health.
At the end of the 1800’s two very different Americans would present to their communities a concept of values and work ethics that would impact millions of Americans over the following 100 years. Jessie Field Shambaugh, an Iowa raised, white American farm girl, in 1901, founded the 4-H Club. Booker T. Washington a Virginia born former Slave, community leader, entrepreneur, race unifier, in 1882, founded Tuskegee University.
Though these two visionary’s never met the theme incorporated within Head, Heart, Hands & Home has served as a roadmap for success for every community that has embraced it. Booker T. Washington taught its precepts and due to decades of implementation, by Tuskegee graduates, it catapulted the Black community as our nation’s most competitive minority during the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.
The tenets of Head, Heart, Hands and Home MUST be embraced once again by our nation…
